My Pill Fiasco

I have been taking pills since I was about 7 years old(I was a sickly child!) I have watched as most of my siblings struggle to learn how to swallow pills, amazed that it is such a difficult task for some people. I guess starting at such a young age, and with all my practice, it just came naturally to me. You put the pill on your tongue, take a drink of water, and swallow--simple as that! I have even gotten to the point where I will take two pills at a time, and if there is no water around, I'll just swallow them dry. Anyways on to my fiasco...

I have been taking 6 pills a day(2 at each meal) since Monday to help with my milk production. I didn't even think twice about having to do this, it was just no big deal to me. Then yesterday at lunchtime, I popped two pills in my mouth, and took a drink of water, very ready to get on with eating my lunch. Only this time one of the pills turned and went down sideways. Of course it didn't go all the way down...instead it got lodged in my throat. I tried to drink some more water, which wouldn't go down either, and caused me to gag and choke. Once I got the water to come back up, I decided to try a few other things. I tried the bulemic approach, sticking my finger down my throat, which did make me gag, but did nothing for the pill stuck in there. After several failed attempts at different options, I decided that I was just going to have to wait until it desolved, it would have to eventually desolve, I figured.

So, I waited.....and waited.....and waited. While I was waiting I found out the hard way that swallowing caused me to gag and wasn't a very pleasant experience. So I waited, drooled, and spit for about 4 hours. Travis got home from work about
3 1/2 hours into my ordeal and tried shoving his finger down my throat. He was successful in pushing it down a little farther, but it was still stuck. Finally, after trying to drink water yet again, I managed to gag and choke enough to get it to go the rest of the way down.

It was a long day yesterday, and I wasn't a very good mom--I let Parker cry in his crib for quite awhile:( But I did learn something. Even "experts" have mishaps now and then, AND only take one pill at a time!!

Parker Rolled Over!!

Yeah!! Parker rolled all the way over by himself last night! He has been trying for a few weeks now, but couldn't figure it out. He had his four month check-up yesterday, and his pediatrition told me to hold a toy up for him when he gets stuck on his arm so that he will reach for it, and roll the rest of the way over. It worked!! So Parker was exactly 4 months and 2 days old when he rolled over from tummy to back.

So at his appointment yesterday he had grown an inch, but he hadn't gained any weight:( The doc said that it is probably no big deal as long as he gains by his next appointment, but she wants me to take a supplement to help with my milk production. Hopefully it will work and he will get some meat on those bones!! He is doing great other than that.

Here are a couple pictures of my 2 cuties!

Update

I have been a huge slacker the past few weeks, and decided that it was time to sit down and write a good post to update everyone on the life of the Brown's. Where do I start? Parker is 4 months old today and is currently taking a nap in his swing--yeah!! He has been trying to roll over but can't seem to get over his arm! He has also learned how to blow bubbles/spit, and is trying to communicate a lot more. It is really cute when he gets jabbering because some times it's like his tongue gets in the way (I think that's how he figured out how to spit!!) He has a doctors apt. on Monday, so I will let you all know his stats when we find out.

We are also in the process of buying a house. It has been very exciting and stressful at the same time. Our house has three bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms. It also has a really nice Florida room that is a new addition. It also has a one car garage, and a deck in the back yard. The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated, and it is really cute! I am very excited about it (if you couldn't tell!) We just had the home inspection yesterday, which went well, and are planning to close on Sept. 10!! YEAH. I really can't wait to get out of our apartment. It will be really nice to have a place of our own. Here are a couple pictures.

Let's see what else has been going on? Oh--I finally finished "Life of Pi" which we read for book club last month(I'm a little late!) Now I need to start the book for this month. At least I have a couple of weeks left. Hopefully I can breeze right through it! It seems like my life has been so crazy lately that I haven't had time to do much reading, scrapbooking, or writing on my blog:) I don't even know what I have been doing that has kept me so occupied. I guess just being a mom, and house buying stuff, and a little cleaning(not much though!) I need to start packing soon! The joys of moving!
